In November 2005 a group of local runners decided to meet every Monday for a run. They started planning races and other runs together and eventually the Clapham Chasers team name was born. Once the club kit was ordered and the website up and running, there was no stopping the growth of the club.
We now have more than 1,200 members and a home at the Trinity Fields Clubhouse in Wandsworth. We have running sessions, cycles & swims throughout the week and target specific races as a team.
Clapham Chasers aims to provide a diverse schedule of quality, fun training opportunities, from which members can pick and choose, in order to suit their own individual interests, pace and goals. The club has structure and strives to develop, but it is paramount that this never gets in the way of our enjoyment of activities or the great friendship between members. Within the club there is a wealth of experience and knowledge so Chasers lead and encourage other Chasers. Our three key values are:
AMBITIOUS - We encourage members to set new personal targets, train wisely for them and compete to achieve them. Many members have vastly improved their PBs and our members/teams take part and compete at all levels locally, nationally and internationally.
SOCIABLE - All sessions and socials are led by groups of friendly and energetic volunteers keen for members to enjoy all that the club has to offer. New members are warmly welcomed and everyone is encouraged to join the ever-increasing sea of blue and green vests at team events.
INCLUSIVE - Sessions are designed to be as suitable for novice members as for those competing at the top of the field. We support volunteers keen to develop additional interest areas. We welcome all newcomers, whatever their gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status etc. All we ask is that you share our inclusive outlook and come along with trainers, swimming costume or bike, as well as a good dose of enthusiasm!
Chasers are committed to continually taking the club forward in many progressive ways. At the moment the key focuses are on club identity, website development, Triathlon / cycling training, improving and increasing frequency of club training sessions and further improving the social side of the club.
The club is fully affiliated the the following federations:
