Insurance                   

This page sets out what insurance is provided for club members whilst training with Clapham Chasers, and what we recommend as a minimum level of additional insurance.

Running:

Clapham Chasers affiliate directly with England Athletics. Members can also join individually for additional benefits but the club affiliation covers all of Clapham Chaser's paid up members for a limited amount of public liability cover. Full details are on the England Athletics website.

If any member believes they need more comprehensive cover or for other types of insurance cover then it is their responsibility to do so.

Cycling:

Clapham Chasers affiliation with the British Triathlon Association, Cycling Time Trials or any other governing body DOES NOT provide any individual member with any public liability insurance or any other insurance cover with respect to cycling.

We STRONGLY recommend that any member cycling with Clapham Chasers as a minimum takes out individual affiliation with the British Triathlon Association or British Cycling (Silver or Gold membership). This is limited public liability cover and it is the individuals responsibility to assess the cover and take out alternative or additional cover if required.

Joining the British Cycling membership may be cheaper but will not cover swimming or Triathlon competition. Please also be aware that British Cycling does not cover liability or damage for claims between its members, e.g. if both parties are covered by British Cycling and they collide during a training ride they would not be covered under by British Cycling 

Swimming:

Clapham Chasers affiliation with the British Triathlon Association or any other governing body DOES NOT provide any individual member with any public liability or any other insurance cover with respect to swimming.

Other Insurance:

Clapham Chasers recommends that further insurance to cover aspects such as personal property, personal injury, travel and competition is taken out by individuals where applicable. Clapham Chasers do not provide any of these insurance policies, but there is a club discount available with Yellow Jersey Insurance.

Yellow Jersey Insurance offers club members a discount of 10%

The policy is designed for cycle enthusiasts to insure their bicycle worldwide for theft and accidental damage as well as covering an individual for third party liability and competitive use. The policy has many unique benefits including covering a bike box, covering a bicycle in transit and triathlon race transition cover. The policy comes with £250 of accessory cover and a free DNA+ forensic coding kit.
